Welcome to Evalynn and Elizabeth's journal! We were born on August 31, 2003 at 34 weeks, 5 days gestation. Our due date was October 7th, so we were a bit over 5 weeks early. Select the links below to get quickly to the section of your choice. Thanks for visiting.
Year two has begun. We are going have fun watching them develop into independent individuals over the coming year.
Many pictures are posted out here. Prior to posting the pictures, I shrink them down to approximately 300 pixels to save space on the web server (we're only given so much space). If you're wanting original sized pictures, please email us, letting us know which picture you'd like and we will email the original to you.
December 1, 2004: 1 yr, 91 days (15 months) December already! This year has flown!
Mommy is in the process of making Mary and Joseph costumes for the Children's Christmas Program at Church. The girls had fun watching Mommy sew yesterday.
Here's a picture of Mitzi modeling Mary...

Can you believe Lynn and Liz are 15 months old today! They go for their 15 month checkup and shots on Friday.
Mommy is off for some sleep.

Liz is up to
the 11th percentile for weight and she's staying consistent for 25% for length.
Lynn is still under 3% for weight, which is consistent for her curve, and jumped
up to the 10th percentile for length (she was always under 3% for length too).
Lynn didn't take the visit with the doc very well and screamed most of the time.
Liz didn't fuss until it was time for shots.
Doc was thinking of sending them to PT since they're not walking yet, but he
thinks they're so close that he'll wait on that. He's thinking by Christmas,
we'll have a fulltime walker on our hands. I'm not too worried. They could walk
if they really wanted to.
They go back on March 4th for their 18 month. They also got two shots.
We're all done with shots until they're four years old!
WOO HOO WOO HOO!!!! I DON'T HAVE TO GO IN FOR JURY DUTY ON MONDAY!!!!! Can you
sense my excitement? WOO HOO, PARTY!!! One week down, three to go! We were
all getting nervous, since there is a trial starting on Monday and they kept
having us call back in or check the website...had to do it twice this afternoon.
We're going to the Christmas parade in Bloomington tomorrow (yup...trying it again) and going to the kids' Christmas Party at Daddy's work. We'll see how the visit with Santa goes!

In Memory of Jackson Kitty
1997? - 12-4-2004

Jackson passed away peacefully in his sleep. He was such a good Kitty. He will be missed. He has been a member of our family since Dec 6, 1998. We had actually picked him out on Dec 4th, 1998.
December 9, 2004: 1 yr, 99 days (15 months, 8 days)
The girls are doing a bit more walking every day. I think last count was about 10 steps.
Latest tooth count is 6 each (four top and two bottom). We're not real sure if they have colds or if it's teething, but they both have runny noses and have been drooling lots.
Mommy has been busy getting Christmas presents together as well as sewing for the Christmas program. Mommy finished Joseph's gown on Tuesday and sewed six vests yesterday.
There's no new trials starting next week. So, two weeks down, two to go.
Update at 2:15 pm. This has been a fun day! Lynn just walked from the dining room into the living room (she even stepped over the lip going between the two rooms). It totaled 20-25 steps. Then, while typing this, I looked into the living room to see Liz combing Lynn's hair and them hugging each other.
December 12, 2004: 1 yr, 102 days (15 months, 12 days)
Lynn, Mitzi and Mommy were all sick Thursday night/Friday. That was a rough 24 hours here. Daddy came home from work early Friday to take care of us sickies. Knock on wood...Liz and Daddy haven't gotten it yet. Dan started the whole cycle last Sunday/Monday. We're all feeling much better.
We decided that none of us should be swimming. So, we did not go to the 4-H swim party on Saturday. We did go to the Church Christmas Party Saturday night. That was a blast! Lynn and Liz had fun dancing and playing with balloons.
Today, we went to Aunt Marjorie's for Christmas in Wisconsin (the first of many Christmas celebrations over the next couple weeks). We came home with a full vehicle. The girls got a Dressy Bessy Doll, vacuum cleaner, lots of clothes, toy microwave and a little workshop with gears and some tools. We did have to take some of the tools away as Liz was found with the wrong end of the screwdriver deep in her mouth. They'll get it back when they stop putting everything in their mouth. The girls were exhausted and slept the whole way home. Mommy still needs to take pictures off the camera.
December 14, 2004: 1 yr, 104 days (15 months, 14 days)
Here's the pictures from the Santa visit on the 4th. We were a bit scared as Daddy received someone else's pictures. Next year, we'll take our camera just in case.

December 15, 2004: 1 yr, 105 days (15 months, 15 days)
Liz walked from the the dining room to the living room tonight!!! It wasn't straight walking. She'd take several steps, fall, and get back up again and walk more. This is the first time she's attempted this. Every time she made the attempt, we'd clap. That probably gave her the encouragement to try again. Grandma Wilson is thinking they're holding out to surprise us on Christmas.
No new trials next week either. I just realized there are 5 Wednesdays this month. So, 3 down, 2 to go.
December 17, 2004: 1 yr, 107 days (15 months, 17 days)
Here's our Monkey Girl (Evalynn) caught in the act!

When I asked her what she was doing up there, she gave me the sign for 'down'. I'd usually freak out and get her down right away. This time I took pictures first.
This is Mommy's product recommendation of the day...

It's called a Snack Trap. The lid is made of a rubber like material that will not pinch fingers. Mommy was getting tired of Odie getting most of the girls' cereal, so these were ordered from www.onestepahead.com. They arrived yesterday. How awesome. Odie gets a small percentage of what he used to. We'll be definitely buying more of these. Odie has already lost interest in following Lynn and Liz around when they're using these.
Here's something ironic...When we ordered, we were not given a choice of different styles. We assumed they all looked like the one pictured. When we opened ours yesterday, we were sent an orange one with a lion on it and a green one with monkeys. Those are perfect for our lion and monkey!
More information on Snack Traps can be obtained at www.snacktrap.com.

Monkey see, monkey do... Here's Liz on the table last night!

The only difference is that she didn't know what to do when she got up there!
We went up to Lemont yesterday to see Marya (Michael & Marya went to school together). Marya found us through our website about a year ago and we've been emailing each other ever since. I finally got to meet her! We met her husband Mario, 12 yr old son, Michael; and new arrivals, Matthew and Mea. It is so hard to believe that Lynn and Liz were that small. We brought up clothes for Mea as well as some toys, the bottle props, tummy time blanket and other things. We were so surprised how good Lynn and Liz did there! They felt like they were at home, walking around (yes, walking) and playing. They loved looking at the babies. Liz tried bending down to give Matthew a kiss.
We went to Romeoville after leaving Marya's to pick up the girls' Christmas present Mommy found on Ebay. We can't wait to see the girls' faces Christmas morning!
December 22, 2004: 1 yr, 112 days (15 months, 22 days)
Big Sister took us for a blanket ride this morning! We had so much fun!

Liz is building quite the vocabulary! Yesterday, she grabbed her coat and tried to put it on. When asked what she was doing, she said "Bye-bye". We were doing "what sound does ___ make?" last night. We did lion, doggy and kitty and would make the sound first. Then she'd make the sound. Lynn watched us with the 'are you nuts' look (we were disturbing her Wheel of Fortune).
The girls' favorite show right now is Teletubbies, with the favorite parts being Tubby Bye-Bye and any time the baby appears (the baby is the sun). Liz will say bye-bye to all the Tubbies and wave. Lynn will wave.
The girls are walking more and more everyday. Liz is cutting a molar.
UPDATE: Mommy's Jury service is done! Here's Mommy doing the Happy Dance:

It is so hard to believe that tomorrow is Christmas Eve! This year has really flown by! Mommy felt that it just didn't feel like Christmas around here, so up went the big Christmas tree! Annie Kitty has messed with it more than the girls have. They've touched the lights (it's fiber optic) and branches,
Lynn said "Ow" this morning! She was touching the base of the tree where the light comes from and I told her it's warm (there's a lot of heat there and I'm not wanting them to touch it) and it could give owie and she said it! There's something new every day out of these two!
The last few days, Liz has gone to their coats and I'll ask what she's doing. She'll say Bye-Bye! She really wants to go somewhere. It's so cold here I don't want to take them out too much.

Merry Christmas!!!
Liz was caught opening a present early yesterday!

Mommy thought it would be safe to put that one present under the tree while they were napping. Liz was out of bed less than 5 minutes when Mommy heard paper ripping!
We went to Uncle John and Aunt Elena's for Chinese food and to open presents last night. It was lots of fun. Liz didn't open presents nearly as well as the present in the picture. Here are some cute pictures that were taken last night. The first one is Ephram pushing Lynn around. The second is Liz 'chillin' on the airplane.

We hope you all have a great Christmas!
The girls have really made out! They've received a wagon, Little People Airport and figures, dolls (3 each), clothes, kitchen, dishes, play food, musical instruments (drum, maracas, piano), tea set, big girl plate/bowl/spoon/cup set and more stuff Mommy cannot remember. We had lots of rushing. We went to pick Mitzi up in our jammies. Then we came home to open presents real quick, get dressed and head over to Uncle John's for dinner. Lynn was doing lots of walking at Uncle John's! Liz also cut a bottom molar today (tooth count...Liz 7, Lynn 6).
Tomorrow, we're heading to Downers Grove for Christmas.
We got home around 6:00 tonight and cleaned up from this morning's rush. The girls got to play with their new toys. Here are pictures of them opening gifts this morning and playing with their kitchen tonight.
Helping Mitzi hand presents out...

Lynn opening the mini-piano and Liz wowing over the drum...

Liz showing off her new dinnerware...

Lynn loving the piano...

Liz discovered the food in the fridge and Lynn was preparing tea...

Mommy is bushed and heading to bed!
December 27, 2004: 1 yr, 117 days (15 months, 27 days) We've still been busy over the last couple days. Yesterday we went up to Downers Grove for the Gass Christmas. Liz and Lynn got huge blocks and the peek a blocks wagon from Great Grandma and Grandpa Gass. We got home late last night.
Today we were busy trying to re-organize the toy stations. Mommy tries to categorize everything. The Christmas trees came down (no more Annie Kitty play-toy's). The girls' kitchen was moved into the dining room and the little people stuff was moved to where the kitchen sat for a couple days.
This afternoon, we had to make a couple returns. Mommy got an awesome deal on a new wok and Chinese dinnerware set. We had to go shopping to fill these bare cupboards.
Grandma Willis is coming down tomorrow and will be staying until Sunday. She'll be bringing Mommy's camera back that we left in Downers Grove.
December 31, 2004: 1 yr, 121 days (16 months) Lynn cut a tooth Wednesday. Both girls have 7 teeth.
We bought potty chairs yesterday. We'll have them sit around for a while before attempting any potty training. I'm not sure if I like the one's we selected, but they'll have to do.
We took some cute pictures today (Lynn likes closeup's)...

Both girls were giving big Sister a hug. Lynn was patting Mitzi's back.
Here's the picture from last Sunday of the girls sleeping in the same crib together.

Happy New Year!
