Welcome to Evalynn and Elizabeth's journal!  We were born on August 31, 2003 at 34 weeks, 5 days gestation.  Our due date was October 7th, so we were a bit over 5 weeks early.  Select the links below to get quickly to the section of your choice.  Thanks for visiting.

Year two has begun.  We are going have fun watching them develop into independent individuals over the coming year.

Many pictures are posted out here.  Prior to posting the pictures, I shrink them down to approximately 300 pixels to save space on the web server (we're only given so much space).  If you're wanting original sized pictures, please email us, letting us know which picture you'd like and we will email the original to you.

January 31, 2005: 1 yr, 152 days (17 months)   Seventeen months!!!  We spend lots of time chasing and playing!  This age is great.  We see new things everyday.  Mommy temporarily lost count of teeth.  We think they have 9.

We celebrated Mitzi's birthday last Thursday with cake and ice cream.  The girls loved eating cake and ice cream.  Liz ate it all and had an extra scoop of ice cream!

We took a bunch of pictures tonight of the girls playing with blocks.  I'll post a few out when I get them off the camera.

February 3, 2005: 1 yr, 156 days (17 months, 3 days)   It's a beautiful day here today.  Mitzi is out taking the girls for a walk in the wagon.  I finally got a picture...

February 8, 2005: 1 yr, 161 days (17 months, 9 days)   Latest tooth count:  Lynn-10, Liz-11.  Liz has cut three teeth in the last week.

There has not been too much going on here.  We had the Lane's over for the superbowl.  We had a great time.  I had Danielle over to help with some preparations.  We also made some mini-footballs out of old burp rags for everyone to toss around for bad calls/plays.

We got this picture of Lynn last night.  They both love emptying boxes and sit in them.  Daddy tried taking Lynn out of this box to change her diaper.  She continued to hold onto the box.  She thought it was so funny!

February 10, 2005: 1 yr, 163 days (17 months, 10 days)   Lynn said "doggie get down" yesterday (and Odie did).  She also chases the noisy cats and tells them to "shut up".  We'll need to teach her to say be quiet instead.

Liz loves Wheel of Fortune.  She will say hi to Pat and Vanna and will say bye when Vanna goes over to the board.  She'll then start calling out vowels (A, E or I) and will clap when someone solves a puzzle.  She also like the Count part of Sesame Street.  She'll try saying the numbers when counting up to the number of the day.

It is so much fun watching these two communicate with each other.  They do relatively well sharing.  If someone is upset, the other will go up and give hugs.  Lynn get frustrated a bit quicker than Liz.

They're both getting good at stacking the blocks they got for Christmas from Great Grandma and Grandpa.   They're even starting to put them away when they want to.

Lynn loved her lunch today...Mommy got gutsy and gave them ravioli's.  Lynn ate it all, while Liz didn't even touch it with the exception of dipping the vanilla wafer in the sauce (yum).  Cleaning Lynn's face was the equivalent of wiping the orange off a pumpkin!  Look at Lynner's hair!!!  Picture pigtails sticking out of that head in a year!

February 12, 2005: 1 yr, 165 days (17 months, 12 days)   Mommy is mobile again!!!  We picked up a 2002 Ford Windstar minivan yesterday.  It is so much easier to get the girls in and out of it.  We really like it.  It is dark green, which is Mommy's favorite color.  We still have the Durango...it will just be used a lot less since the van is better on gas.

The weather has been beautiful the last couple days...another spring teaser...  We've had the girls out to play.  Now, they always want to go outside.  Mitzi, Jordan and Danielle took them to the park for a bit this afternoon.

Here's Lynn telling us which coupons are good this week at IGA.

February 14, 2005: 1 yr, 167 days (17 months, 14 days)

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Picture taking sure is not as easy as it used to be, especially getting them together in one.

And, for the funny ones...

Lynn was playing peek-a-boo in the first picture.  The second one, Liz is showing her tough face, while Lynn is like "would you just sit down, so we can get this over with!"  Liz just learned how to stick her lower jaw out.

Yup...that's an owie on Lynn's cheek!  Just like her big sister, she'll scrape herself up when we want to take pictures.

Here's something Mommy spent the afternoon doing...

February 16, 2005: 1 yr, 169 days (17 months, 16 days)

Lynn went potty on the big girl potty this afternoon!!!!!!

They've both expressed an interest, so we've been putting them on at every diaper change.  We really were not expecting anything yet, but they showed all the signs.  We thought we'd give it a shot, not expecting a whole lot.  If all else, right now we'd save a couple diapers.

Lynn walked up to the bathroom door and knocked on it.  I asked her if she had to go potty and she pounded harder.  I set her on and she went right away.

We bought two potty chairs right after Christmas and had them sitting around so the girls could get used to these foreign devices.  The last couple weeks we've let them come in with us and they'd sit on their chairs with clothes on.

Now I wonder if we should stick with it.  I'm guessing the novelty of this will wear out.  We'll see what happens.

Lizzie's cold has come back, which means the sickies are making the second round around the house.  Daddy has been home all week with an upper respiratory infection.

February 17, 2005: 1 yr, 170 days (17 months, 17 days)

Lizzie just tinkled!!!!!!

We're going to keep going with it.  We just have to get some training pants.  I'm not really wanting to do the pull-up thing, especially during waking hours.  If we do get them, it would probably be for naps and at night.

Another new development...Lizzie has just cut her first eye tooth.  We were not even looking for those yet.  So she has that along with her cold.

They're also beginning to use spoons.  It was funny watching them eat spaghetti-O's.  Lynn actually ate mashed potatoes tonight.  She wouldn't eat them for a while.  I don't think she liked the texture.  She's had quite an appetite lately.

Speaking of Lynn'er...she tinkled four times for us today!!!  She spent the majority of the afternoon/evening dry.  It's definitely time to invest in training pants!

February 19, 2005: 1 yr, 172 days (17 months, 19 days)

Both girls are now down with the nasty cold.  I was looking in past journal entries and we were all sick this time last year!

We all took Daddy to the airport this morning.  He had to go to NJ again for work.  He comes back Friday afternoon.

In the land of pull-ups, its gotten hard to find training pans...after 13 stores, I finally found some. I started out on the wrong side of town.  I did take advantage of some buys off the clearance racks though.

MY ADVISE when looking for training pants...go to a well stocked Wal-Mart. Target, Kmart, Sears, Toys R Us, Penny's, Bergner's do not carry them anymore. My goal was not to spend $10 a pair off the internet. I bought several all-in-one's that have the combo, rubber/plastic together (I grabbed all the girly and white ones) and some 5 ply's and extra rubbers.

Daddy stayed home with the girls.  He got this picture of Liz pushing Lynn on the bike.

February 24, 2005: 1 yr, 177 days (17 months, 24 days)

What a long week!  Mommy has now come down with the cold.  The girls seem to be getting better.  There's still coughing, but it not half as bad as it was earlier in the week.

With the colds and Daddy gone, the potty training went out the window.  We'll see what happens when we're all feeling better.  If that's not going to happen, we'll hold it off until closer to summer, when it's warmer and can let them go around in training pant's without getting cold.

This is officially Daddy's last trip to NJ!!!!  He accepted an offer for a new position.  He'll start sometime in the next month.

Mitzi took some pictures last night...you can tell the week I've had...I look horrible!  Lynn has a bow in her hair and her hair is sticking straight up like a stick.

Here's a couple I just took.  Lynn looked so cute with the headband in.  She did not look thrilled to get the picture taken.  I was cutting into Teletubbie time.  Liz however, was behind me saying "Hi".

February 28, 2005: 1 yr, 181 days (17 months, 28 days)

Daddy made it home ok on Friday.  The girls were so happy to see Daddy!

Mommy's start of spring is the first of March.  So yesterday all the snowmen/winter decorations came down.

The colds seem to be going away.  We're down to runny noses and very little cough.  We go to the doctor for our 18 month checkup on Friday.  No shots this time, but we do have to be pricked for iron testing.  Then we hopefully won't have to go back until we're two!  Mommy is going to consider Wednesday as our 18-month birthday...maybe she'll make us cake!

Mommy got gutsy yesterday and let us paint with Mitzi and Danielle.  It was fun and we got to splash in the tub afterwards!

Mommy made us pillow cases for our new pillows last night out of the same fabric as our valance and curtains.  We love it!  We take our pillows around the house with us.
