Welcome to Evalynn and Elizabeth's journal! We were born on August 31, 2003 at 34 weeks, 5 days gestation. Our due date was October 7th, so we were a bit over 5 weeks early. Select the links below to get quickly to the section of your choice. Thanks for visiting.
Year two has begun. We are going have fun watching them develop into independent individuals over the coming year.
Many pictures are posted out here. Prior to posting the pictures, I shrink them down to approximately 300 pixels to save space on the web server (we're only given so much space). If you're wanting original sized pictures, please email us, letting us know which picture you'd like and we will email the original to you.

October 30, 2004: 1 yr, 59 days (13 months, 30 days) Today, we carved pumpkins. Here's Lynn and Lizzie's pumpkins that Mommy and Daddy carved:

Mommy also roasted pumpkin seeds. Daddy didn't realize how good pumpkin seeds are!
We went to
Wildlife Prairie State Park in Peoria tonight for the Scary park. We dressed up
all the girls in their Halloween costumes. Mitzi went as a scary witch (kind of
looked more like a zombie witch by the time I got done with her!). Lynn went as
a monkey and Liz as a lion. We waited in line for over two hours for the haunted
train ride. There were also trick or treating stations and picture taking. The
girls were so good even through the wait for the train. We just got home a few
minutes ago. I figured the girls would be freaked out over the costumes and the
ride, but nothing phased them. It must be big brother that has them trained (he
likes to hide and boo them). Dan stayed home to finish carving his pumpkin. He
wouldn't have handled that wait very well anyway. Mitzi did meet a few girls and
they had fun going through the haunted house together.
Here's the picture that was taken of us...the quality is not too good...taken
with a Polaroid...

Here's the three girls all dressed up!

It was so much fun! We're so glad we went, even if it meant we had to stand in lines.
Tomorrow evening, we'll be out trick-or-treating.
October 31, 2004: 1 yr, 60 days (14 months)
Happy Halloween! Also, happy 14 months Lynn and Liz!!! I'll put more here later...just thought I'd get today's post up while I'm still here!
We noticed that the pages have been taking longer to load. So, we're going to start doing the girls' journal by the month instead of two months. This way, mommy can do themes by the month. :)
We took the 14 month pictures in the pile of leaves that were blown into our yard yesterday...

We finally found a Green Bay Packer outfit down here!!!!
We're back from trick or treating...Mommy and Daddy are pooped! The girls liked chewing on the packages. Mommy painted their pails.
The girls had their first M&M's and Reece's when we got home. Lynn does not like Reece's.
Here's some pictures we took tonight...

Here's Big Brother's pumpkin. It's supposed to look like it blew it's top.

November 5, 2004: 1 yr, 65 days (14 months, 5 days) Not too much new to post. Mommy started ripping the carpet out of the kitchen on Wednesday. Big Brother and Mommy finished taking the carpet out along with the old tiles underneath (not salvageable due to all the old carpet glue). Mommy filled any imperfections with an underlayment putty last night. Today there was sanding and primer to do. We should be able to lay the new tile tonight. I cannot wait to have a tiled kitchen!!!! The carpet was a pain I've had to deal with for 6 years.
I swore that yesterday, while she was watching, Lynn said what are you doing Mommy? She was having a nice babble with me through the gate. We're trying the girls with one long nap again. It really hasn't happened since July. Mommy really liked the 3 hour naps as opposed to two 45 minute naps, we've been doing.
It looks like the weekend is going to be great weather wise! There's not too many November weekends you get temps in the 60's.
Mommy's number has come up....Jury Duty for the month of December.
November 6, 2004: 1 yr, 66 days (14 months, 6 days) Most of the tiling was finished early this morning. The rest was completed this afternoon after a tile run. Here's a link to what we did and some pictures (decided to start a projects page). http://www.willisland.net/Sherryweb/Projects/Projects.htm
We went out to breakfast this morning. Everyone was surprised on how good the girls were and how well they ate.
While at the mall waiting for Mommy and Mitzi's haircuts, the girls got a ride on a carousel. They loved it! Lynn cried when it stopped!
November 8, 2004: 1 yr, 68 days (14 months, 8 days) The girls' favorite TV shows are Teletubbies, Boohbah and Mr. Rogers. They'll watch some Sesame Street. One day last week, Liz sat in a plastic box and was glued on Mr. Rogers. She sat in the box for the entire show!
Speaking of Liz, she took 3 steps Friday night! Lynn likes to walk around on her knees.
We went to church with Kelly and Bryan Lane yesterday. Lynn and Liz went down to the nursery. According to Mitzi, they had lots of fun. They fell asleep in the car on the way to buy diapers.
I added some more stuff into the Toys R Us wish list. The girls are really starting to get into role playing. Liz like to take the baby doll in and out of the stroller. They like pretending to wash and dry 'clothes'. It's so much fun watching them play.
November 12, 2004: 1 yr, 72 days (14 months, 12 days) I took some pictures of the girls yesterday. I'm trying to get some real good quality pics so I can order 11x14's from Shutterfly. I'm not sure if I'll use these or try again some other day. Liz loved the headband. She kept it on most of the day. I was able to get a velcro barrette into Lynn's hair for a short time. Her hair is so fine, they usually slide out.

November 16, 2004: 1 yr, 76 days (14 months, 16 days)
Happy Birthday Grandma Willis!!!
Everything is going well here. Liz's new thing is to point at something and say 'whasat' (what's that). Lynn was petting one of the cats yesterday and said 'nice kitty'.
It is so much fun watching the girls develop. Their eye-hand coordination has really improved. They've gone from banging the little people together to putting them in the swing, tractor, bike and wheelchair.
We went to Church Sunday and then to a church group Thanksgiving potluck. It was so much fun! The girls have so much fun in the nursery and seem really comfortable with all the people.
The last couple days, Mommy has been on a cleaning frenzy of all those places Mommy hates to clean such as the bathroom and refrigerator. We're not sure where all of her energy has come from, but the only one that's complaining is Dan, who has to take the trash out!
Today is also Prematurity Awareness Day as well as the month of November being Prematurity Awareness Month. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have to go through prematurity.
November 18, 2004: 1 yr, 78 days (14 months, 18 days) It's been a sad few days here. We're not expecting Jackson Kitty (our white cat) to be with us much longer. He has not been feeling well for a while and has been quickly going downhill this week. He had a seizure this afternoon. He does not seem to be in any pain. We've given Dan the option of what to do, since Jackson is his cat. He'd rather have him go peacefully with his family. We been trying to spend as much time as we can with him. Jackson is the one cat that has been the most tolerant with Lynn and Liz.
November 20, 2004: 1 yr, 80 days (14 months, 20 days) Jackson Kitty is still with us. We think he may have had a stroke on Thursday, followed by the seizures. We let him rest all of yesterday. Today, we started feeding him with a dropper. He is not in any pain. He seemed a bit more alert. He can hear us and reacts to our voices. He still purrs sometimes. So, we're going to make sure he is comfortable. We'll see what happens.
This morning, the girls took all their little people of the plastic container and climbed right in. Lynn went in and sat on Lizzie's lap. Here's a very cute picture of the two. This is the best picture we've gotten of the two in a long time!

We'll be having the girls dedicated at Church tomorrow morning.
Liz likes to cover herself at night. We'll go in there before we go to bed and she'll be all covered up. She also started signing 'more'. She actually talked to Daddy on the phone yesterday. Usually the phone gets pushed away. She learned how to take her t-shirt off yesterday!
They're both taking steps here and there. Nobody has taken off across the room yet. They could if they really wanted too. They must be waiting for the perfect time.
Lynn likes to be on her tippy-tippy toes. She would make a wonderful ballerina! She gets an extra three inches in height when she tippy toes.
Mommy made something to cover the front of the computer so it doesn't get powered off. It's now so velcroed on where it's hard to get a CD in. I guess we have to make sacrifices!
I updated the wish list with new comments last night just in case anyone is still wondering what to get.
November 21, 2004: 1 yr, 81 days (14 months, 21 days) Lynn, Liz and Mitzi were all dedicated at Church today. Here's a few pictures (Thanks Bryan for taking pictures for us!):

November 23, 2004: 1 yr, 83 days (14 months, 23 days) Our little stripper is at it again! Miss Lynn was found without her pants and diaper!!! The sad thing is that Mommy didn't even notice when she went in there. Mommy said hi and went to the closet as normal to get clothes. Then, she heard a tinkling sound...Mommy looked over, looked back in the closet and then it finally clicked! Yikes!!! So, bedding got washed and the girls got a bath first thing this morning!
We're planning a quiet Thanksgiving at home. Daddy bought the turkey last night and other things we'll need. Mitzi is having Thanksgiving at her Dad's. We're hoping we won't get too much snow tomorrow afternoon, since we take her to meet her Dad tomorrow.
Aunt Marjorie and Uncle Ernie are coming down Friday afternoon.
November 25, 2004: 1 yr, 85 days (14 months, 25 days)
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!
We received about 6 inches of snow yesterday afternoon/evening. So much for a bit of snow on grassy surfaces! Last year they kept calling winter storm warnings and we'd end up with a dusting. I think this winter we may get what we missed last year. It really looked pretty out there this morning.
Since we postponed taking Mitzi up to meet her Dad last night, we did some baking. We made pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting, two coffee cakes and a loaf of honey wheat bread.
Miss Lynn stripped down again last night. Daddy went in to check on them at 10:30 and there was bare butt sticking in the air. We were able to get her dressed (in one piece jammies) and back in bed before she even realized what was going on. Usually if you wake her up, she's up for a while.
We took the girls out for a bit last night with Mitzi. Lynn was not happy being bundled up. Liz didn't know what to think. We showed her how to make a snow angel.

More pictures.
This is Liz in the snow. Lynn didn't want anything to do with it and would scream whenever we sat her down. Liz loved it and started digging in it.

More of Liz at dinner. Mommy's dinner was plate lickin' good!

Lynn and Liz say Happy Thanksgiving!!! Yum Yum!!!
